Grand Hotel Europe.In the 1910s, the hotel was remodelled in the Art Nouveau Art Nouveau is an international movement and style of art, architecture and applied art—especially the decorative arts—that peaked in popularity at the turn of the 20th century (1890–1905). The name 'Art nouveau' is French for 'new art'. It is also known as Jugendstil, German for 'youth style', named after the magazine Jugend, which promoted style to designs by Fyodor Lidval and Leon Benois Leon Benois (1856 – 1928) was a Russian architect. He was the son of architect Nicholas Benois, the brother of artists Alexandre Benois and Albert Benois, and the grandfather of the actor Sir Peter Ustinov. He built the Roman Catholic cathedral of Notre-Dame in St Petersburg, the mausoleum of the Grand Dukes of Russia in the Peter and Paul. The latest major renovation was carried on between 1989 and 1991.
The hotel was featured in the 1995 James Bond movie The James Bond film series are film adaptations inspired by Ian Fleming's novels about the fictional MI6 agent James Bond . The franchise remains as one of the longest continually running film series in history, having been in ongoing production from 1962 to 2010 with a six-year hiatus between 1989 and 1995. In that time EON Productions has, GoldenEye GoldenEye is the seventeenth spy film in the James Bond series, and the first to star Pierce Brosnan as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. Released in 1995, the film was directed by Martin Campbell and unlike previous Bond films, is unrelated to the works of novelist Ian Fleming. The story was conceived and written by Michael France, with later. However, none of the movie was shot at the hotel, the exterior used was actually the Langham Hotel in London, while the interiors were sets.
