There are several theories that Spungen was murdered by someone else, usually said to be one of the two drug dealers who visited the apartment that night, and involving a possible robbery, as certain items (including a substantial bankroll) were claimed to be missing from the room. In his book, Pretty Vacant: A History of Punk, Phil Strongman accuses actor and stand-up comic Rockets Redglare of killing Spungen. Redglare steadfastly denied any involvement in the murder of Nancy Spungen throughout his life. He stated that the other dealer known to have been there that evening had left before him to obtain more heroin, and was due back after he had left the building. He said he believed that the other dealer returned, found Vicious out cold, and attempted to steal the remaining drugs, leading to a confrontation with Spungen.
Vicious confessed in a signed statement. In it, he said "I stabbed her, but I didn't mean to kill her. I loved her, but she treated me like shit".[citation needed]

A. Sid Vicious was a train wreck looking for somewhere to happen, he came to believe the hype about himself and tried to establish himself as a PUNK God like Johny (Rotten) Lydon. Rotten had the moxie and the intelligence to see through the whole charade of the thing and so he played the game , Sid lost touch between reality and the game and he lost. Nancy or not , Sid was going to die through his lifestyle. He would have killed her by accident, it does not matter anyway now ...it is all too late.
