How come DVDs cant all be region free, Why do they have to be seperated into different regions?
Q. I have seen DVDs that are region free and to me they are as good quality than the DVDs that have regions to them.
Asked by fullpintlight - Thu Apr 10 18:03:23 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Region is dictated by the movie studios. For example, they may want to delay introducing a movie in Europe, compared to the US or vice versa. It allows them to charge differently each region as well. (For example, they may charge India far less than the US, but they don't want India DVDs to flood the US market.)

In general in north dakota people are much more nicer about everything. So they arent full blown racist. But they will let you know you don't fit when they are drunk. Typical.

How do the fermi levels of p and n-regions of an unbiased p-n junction adjust to become equal?
Q. The original fermi level of the p and n-regions taken separately are different due to difference in concentration and type of doping. However, at the junction, the energy level diagram usually depicts a common fermi level while conduction and valency bands are displaced. How does that happen?
Asked by fortunefinder - Wed Dec 5 12:35:40 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Energy levels in materials are always relative. In other words, you can say that the conduction band is so many eV above the valence band, but it has no particularly absolute value. The Fermi level is simply the energy level of the topmost occupied electronic state (at T = 0). Thid once again is relative - you can say where it is with respect to say the valence band. Until, that is, you join the two materials. When you do this the energy of the topmost occupied state on the n side *must* be the same as that on the p side because the materials are in contact. If it were not, then electrons would flow into the lower energy states across the boundary until they were. Clearly, for these two levels to be the same across the boundary, the… [cont.]

A. Inverewe is very far north (latitude 57.8 degrees), about the same latitude as Hudson's Bay in Canada, but because of warm Atlantic currents from the Caribbean is far warmer in winter (coldest winter temperature measured was 14 degrees F (-12C) in 1986) Due to its latitude temperatures are rarely very hot in summer; the highest temperature recorded was 84F (29C) in June 1978 The heat of the water is transferred to the coastal areas by wind - thus warm air promotes growth of vegetation. Cold air blowing from land to sea - forms fog Cold currents adhere fog when wind blows the cold air inland Coastal areas will generally have more moderate temperatures than inland areas because of the heat capacity of the ocean. I want to get the flanking regions of a gene, how do I do this when the genome is unsequenced?
Q. I am working with an unsequenced organism, and I isolated the internal region of this gene via PCR, using degenerate primers based on conserved regions. Now I want to get the whole gene, and the flaking regions so I can do protein expression work. I have tried genome walking kits with little success, is there another method I could use. I thought about southern hybridisation, but think it is too expensive.

A. Proximity to great rivers. These rivers would flood every spring bringing new soil to the basin. So the river basin was fertile every growing season . Also, the rivers were permanent sources of fresh drinking water that allowed the formation of the city-states. The formation of these city-states are seen as the beginning of "civilization."

Maybe go over your form or hand positions or something but don't exert yourself! 3. Be mentally prepared! Imagine what it's going to be like at your meet. Imagine jumping the height you need/want! 4. Eat some carbs tonight! That's why so many sports have pasta parties before big games/meets! 5. Eat a good breakfast! Don't drink orange juice, though, because it's acidic and could upset your stomach [not as important for jumpers than runners, but still could make a difference] 6. Don't stress out!
